Russian 'Immortality' Project To Offer Ever-Lasting Life By 2045 [Video]

Russian 'Immortality' project aims to transplant human mind into robot body.

A Russian ?immortality? project is hoping to offer ever-lasting life to humans by the year 2045. The hi-tech research project Russia 2045, otherwise known simply as ?Avatar?, has already contacted numerous billionaires, promising to oversee their ?immortality process? for an undisclosed fee.

The immortality project, led by 31-year-old Russian media entrepreneur Dmitry Itskov, has hired 30 scientists to reach its goal of eternal life. Its first aim? To transplant a human brain into a robot body within 10 years. There?s a video below detailing the timetable of the project, and let me just say this, folks: that is some creepy Philip K. Dick sh*t right there.

In an ?Address to Members of Forbes Richest List? on the project?s website, Itskov states:

Honorable businessmen and businesswomen, members of the Forbes richest list: human life is unique and priceless. It is only when we have to part with life do we realize just how much we have not done, that we have not had enough time to do what we really wanted or to address something we?ve done wrong. Everything that we have cherished and loved all of a sudden becomes unreachable. Today you have a unique chance to change this situation.

In a letter delivered to billionaires listed in Forbes, Itskov added:

?You have the ability to finance the extension of your own life up to immortality. Our civilization has come very close to the creation of such technologies: it?s not a science fiction fantasy. It is in your power to make sure that this goal will be achieved in your lifetime.?

Itskov says the initiative is opening its San Francisco office this summer. Over on the Russia 2045 site, the Russian entrepreneur states:

?Such research has the potential to free you, as well as the majority of all people on our planet, from disease, old age and even death. For anyone interested, but skeptical, I am ready to prove the viability of the concept of cybernetic immortality by arranging an expert discussion with a team of the world?s leading scientist working in this field.?

Itskov hopes the project will one day find a way to ?upload? minds without surgery, with human bodies merely empty shells as their owners ?live on? inside robots. The next phase will be to create an artificial human brain, before tackling the final goal: the ability to upload human minds into holographic bodies.

Itskov adds that he?d like to work with the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the U.S. The military research organisation is already studying how troops can use their minds to remotely control androids who will conduct battles on humanity?s behalf.

If you?re not freaked out enough by this already, here?s the (slightly abridged) timetable for Russia 2045?s immortality project, followed by the video I mentioned previously (complete with Dramatic Voiceover Guy?):

2012-2013. New transhumanist movements and parties emerge. Russia 2045 transforms into World 2045.

2013-2014. New centers working on cybernetic technologies for the development of radical life extension rise. The ?race for immortality? starts.

2015-2020. The Avatar is created ? A robotic human copy controlled by thought via ?brain-computer? interface. It becomes as popular as a car.

2020. In Russia and in the world appear ? in testing mode ? several breakthrough projects: android robots replace people in manufacturing tasks; android robot servants for every home; thought-controlled Avatars to provide telepresence in any place of the world and abolish the need business trips; flying cars; thought driven mobile communications built into the body or sprayed onto the skin.

2020-2025. An autonomous system providing life support for the brain and allowing it interaction with the environment is created. The brain is transplanted into an Avatar B. With Avatar B man receives new, expanded life.

2025. The new generation of Avatars provides complete transmission of sensations from all five sensory robot organs to the operator.

2030-2035. ReBrain ? The colossal project of brain reverse engineering is implemented. World science comes very close to understanding the principles of consciousness.

2035. The first successful attempt to transfer one?s personality to an alternative carrier. The epoch of cybernetic immortality begins.

2040-2050. Bodies made of nanorobots that can take any shape arise alongside hologram bodies.

2045-2050. Drastic changes in social structure, and in scientific and technological development. For the man of the future, war and violence are unacceptable. The main priority of his development is spiritual self-improvement.

A new era dawns: The era of neohumanity.
