Restaurant Serves Toddler Whiskey | Gather

A toddler was served whiskey at a restaurant, and the parents are furious. Sonny Rees was celebrating his second birthday with his family at the Frankie and Benny's restaurant in Wales when he became intoxicated after downing a double shot of whiskey.

How in the world did the parents not smell the whiskey? Nina Rees, little Sonny's mother, says, "I had ordered him lime juice and water, his favorite." Like any mother, she was encouraging her son to drink his juice with his meal not realizing it was a toxic cocktail. She didn't notice the faces her child was making until he had consumed about "10 sips."

She explains, "I took it from him and took a sip myself. It was whiskey, I would say a double." Her innocent child was probably wondering what kind of nasty juice he was drinking, but like any good boy, he drank it without complaint.

Mom adds, "As soon as I sipped it I had the slight burny feeling in my throat and warming in my chest." Can you imagine what the poor little guy was feeling drinking whiskey like juice? According to the parents, the restaurant's staff handled the situation terribly, which infuriated the parents even more.

The toddler was taken to the emergency room where he was observed and sent home to recover. The little guy probably had one heck of a hangover.
