Washington Redskins: Mike Shanahan Missing $3,700 & DeAngelo Hall $30,000 Fine

In an upbeat mood and even posing in a reporter's brown derby for a few photographs to start his press conference after?Redskins?practice Thursday, Head Coach Mike Shanahan read through the player injury report like a school teacher calling roll.

"Garcon?limited. ?Meriweather?limited. ?Moss?OK, full practice. ?Brown?Out."

These were just four of the eight names mentioned from the list of injury-status report during the press conference seen on Redskins.com.

There was only a brief mention of game strategy in the Redskins 1 p.m. ET matchup with NFC East division opponent?Philadelphia Eagles?at FedEx Field Sunday, Nov 18. ?

Coach Shanahan had brief comments on his belongings that were taken from an unlocked briefcase in an unsecured locker room at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Oct. 28.?

A passport and $3,700 in cash were missing.

Shanahan initially thought the items were placed in a separate bag. ?

In a statement released Thursday morning by Redskins director of security Ed Burke, after a more thorough review by Redskins' security officials a police report was filed.?

?The Pittsburgh Police insisted on filing a police report because of the missing passport,? Burke said.?

When asked for details, Shanahan cited the nature of the "ongoing investigation" and he "can't comment or can't talk."

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall Visited by NFL Officials

Redskins CB?DeAngelo Hall, who was fined $30,000 this week for his part in a heated and lengthy exchange with officials Oct. 28th vs. the Steelers, had a special visitor from the?NFL?this week.

Former?San Francisco 49ers?safety Merton Hanks, who played from 1991 to 1998 with the 49ers and spent his last year before retirement (1999) with the?Seahawks, is now a senior manager and assistant director of operations for the NFL.

According to Shanahan, the NFL sent Hanks to speak with Hall and "a couple of players to get their opinion of what happened on the field."

Shanahan said he did not know whether Hall had any plans to appeal the $30,000 fine.?

Shanahan Calls Heated Exchanges with Refs a "Part of Football"

Coach Shanahan spent much of his Thursday press conference with reporters after practice discussing the $30,000 fine assessed by the NFL this week to CB DeAngelo Hall. ?

Hall was fined for "taking off his helmet and you have to keep your poise when in a verbal confrontation with the officials."

"Even when you're in that kind of situation," according to Shanahan.

Shanahan said the exchanges between referees and coaches during the game are a part of the game.

He went on to add the referees "understand our job and we understand their job."
